Area Info
The Sea of Cortez, (Mar de Cortez), is one of the top 5 fishing
hotspots on the globe. It rivals Australia’s Great Barrier
Reef, and Midway Island for its fishing potential! Baja California’s
Eastcape region, just 48 miles north of the Los Cabos airport,
and only 66 miles north of Cabo San Lucas, offers some of
the best sportfishing in the world, including Blue Marlin,
Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Yellowfin, Dorado,
Sierra, Yellowtail, Wahoo and more.
Baja Marlin Sportfishing Charters, the Eastcape’s fishing
charter specialists, are here to take you there! Welcome aboard
the 25-foot super panga “VICTORIA!” Get your Penn International
2-speed ready, because you're in for the sportfishing adventure
of a lifetime!
You will be able to fish Baja's storied East Cape (Este del
Cabo), from La Ribera, with access not only to the inshore
and blue water fishing, but also to snorkeling and scuba diving
from Cabo Pulmo, the only coral reef in North America's Pacific
coast! The waters here are much calmer than in the Pacific,
especially when the wind comes from the West. In this case,
you find yourself in the lee of the beautiful mountains, and
can have glass-calm conditions, which aid in your ability
to spot fins and bait (much of the fishing is done by sight!).
Normally fishing is done within sight of shore, and marlin
have been caught within casting distance of the beach! Rarely
is there a need to venture farther out into the Sea of Cortez,
but at times the pursuit of 100 lb. yellowfin tuna (ahi),
or a vast school of smaller tuna makes the run worthwhile.
