Hi Don – we had a wonderful trip to
East Cape – Hotel Buena Vista was nice – Felipe and Elizabeth both said HELLO!
Fishing with Victor was very
enjoyable and the way we like to participate in an activity –he even had us
frequently driving his boat so he could change rigging on rods or set up other
equipment -- he uses different techniques that the captains we have fished with
in the Punta Pescadero / El Cardonal area . We learned some new things about
fishing in the Sea of Cortez and Victor showed us how to catch our own bait as
he was not too happy with the bait a couple of days. That was really new. We
caught 4 marlin (Judie and I each had 2) and I caught a sailfish. Fishing for
dorado was sparse as it was for other fish. We ended up keeping 1 amberjack, 2
dorado, 2 snapper ( 1 red and 1 dog) and Victor cut 6 steaks from 1 of the 2
marlin for us. In addition to 2 marlin, Victor kept, we also gave Victor a
large red snapper. We tipped him $ 340 ( we broke it out into some categories
like – catching bait and teaching us how to catch bait! We hope he got the
humor).
We hope he enjoyed fishing with us.
We had appetizers and wine with Pam
and Blake and then Pam took us out 2 afternoons to look at properties. They are
very nice, and on the 2nd afternoon Pam took us past the house you
are building. Very nice spot! Pam was very helpful and is certainly a wealth of
information and knowledge about the area. I suspect we will be following up
with her with additional questions about some of the properties we visited.
Thanks for all of the referrals and
connections. Other than very hot and humid ( unusually hot for that late in
Oct) and a lot of algae and sea weed in the water near the hotel ( we did not
get in the water) the trip was great – and the chef at the hotel is terrific –
without a doubt the best Mexican food we have ever eaten.
